Back in May I photographed Roseberry Park in Middlesbrough for MAAP Medial Architecture . It was a really nice project to work on, even though I spent most of the day ducking in and out of spontaneous rain storms!
Roseberry Park is a new build 312 bed mental health ‘village’ built adjacent to the existing St. Luke’s Hospital, focused upon the individual patient experience.
The accommodation is broken down into a number of ‘houses’ arranged around large activity gardens and courtyards to create an architecture of enclosure without fences, to help remove stigma. The resultant environments encourage use of outdoor space, whether for activity or simply quiet contemplation, with resultant benefits for patient treatment and rehabilitation.
